Ready, Set, Splash* swim school seeks qualified applicants for part-time swim instructors for our Decatur, Alabama location. We provide premier children and adult swim instruction year-round, teaching individual and small group classes (max 3 students per class) year round at our indoor heated pools. Our website is https://readysetsplash.org. Because of the nature of our work in working with people in and around water, we are very selective of the  people that teach with us. This work will be as a contractor, paid via monthly check. Contractors provide their own insurance and current Lifeguarding/CPR/AED certifications (up-front loans for these expenses can be discussed), and pay their own taxes based on that income.

The qualified applicant must have:

• Fun, upbeat, patient, friendly, and soothing demeanor around people.
• Skills as an excellent swimmer and comfort in deep water.
• Superb organizational capacity with proven ability to schedule and keep appointments.
• Current CPR/AED Certification and willingness to update Lifeguarding
  certificate soon, if not already current. (Recertifications through the
  Red Cross cost around $145 if expired within the past year, $240 if
  longer out of date). We can work out a first-paycheck payback loan to
  assist with this if desired, and can discuss during interviews.
• Willingness to pass a background check.
• Willingness to use our teaching methodology and philosophy.
• Availability to teach in afternoons and early evenings; we set your teaching schedule based on your availability. We teach in 30 minute time slots.
• Ability to provide their own instructor insurance (~$110/year) as a 1099 contractor to Ready, Set, Splash. Again, a first paycheck loan can be discussed during interviews, and we can provide suggestions for insurance companies.

We would like the applicant to potentially have:

• Experience teaching in the classroom, at home, or in the pool.
• Experience as competitive swimmer in summer team, high school team, or college team, but not absolutely necessary.

Even though we teach year round, our greatest demand for lessons is during the spring, summer, and early fall. For this position, we are specifically  interested in applicants who are available on weekday afternoons and evenings (Approximately 3-7pm). There are opportunities to teach Saturdays and Sundays if also interested.

Compensation: $40 per hour
